Your source for AC Current Measurement products plus BELUK power
factor
control relays and Specialty Contactors designed for Power Factor
compensation.
The
Beluk family of products consist of the BLR series of Power
Factor Controllers,
KSR
Capacitor Protection Relay and EMM 5 Power Analyzer.
BLR
controllers include the BLR-CA, BLR-CB, BLR-CC, BLR-CM and the
latest in the series,
the BLR-CX. The
following is a brief description of each of the instruments plus a
link to our
download page where
PDF files of bulletins and installation instructions for most
instruments
may be found. Extra
detail is included on this page for the BLR-CX along with a specific
link
to obtain the
complete instruction manual for the unit.
Additional products from Beluk are accessories to the power factor
correction function such as
software and data
loggers for the BLR series plus static contactors.

When developing the BLR series of power factor controllers, the
Beluk engineerinig
staff attached
great importance to simplicity of installation and operation . With
the
new design of the
products, each instrument automatically sets up after a few simple
switch settings by
the installer. It is no longer necessary to select the starting
current
(C/k value) or a
fixed switching program.
The
relays start working as soon as they have been correctly connected
and they will
always select the
most appropriate capacitor step size. The recognition of the values
of capacitor steps
is achieved without unnecessary test switchings and instead is based
on values obtained during the daily operating routine of reactive
load compensation.
Common Features on - CA, - CB, - CC, and - CM models
►
4-quadrant measurement of reactive and constant supervision of
inductive/capacitive load
►
measurement and supervision of each step of kvar output during
switching process
►
adjustment of current transformer ratio for control purposes is not
required.
(On
BLR-CM, input of the CT ratio is required for the indication of
values measured).
►
adjustment of target cos phi in the range 0.70 (lag) - 1 - 0.90
(lead)
►
adjustable switching time
►
manual switching may be selected
►
no-volt release with power interruption greater than 35 ms.
►
90 second lockout time following power failure and subsequent power
restoration.
►
optical (LED) indication of each individual stage
►
failure alarm if target cos j is not achieved (after completion of
75 switching cycles)
►
failure alarm if relay detects there is a risk of overloading
capacitors due to excessive
harmonic current
►
adjustable switching time delay
►
plug in terminal blocks

The BLR-CX Power Factor Controller
The
BLR-CX controller has incorporated all of the features of the - CA,
- CB and - CC models plus added new capabilities to make this new
unit an even greater value than its predecessors! There only two
options offered for the BLR-CX controller as all other items are now
standard: the options are the addition of a temperature controlled
fan relay and the second PF target (option - L) and a measurement
option (option - M) that provides a display of the electrical system
parameters - full descriptions for options are included below and in
a PDF instruction manual available on request.
BLR-CX
Standard Features
►
4-quadrant measurement of reactive and constant supervision of
inductive / capacitive load
►
measurement and supervision of each step of kvar output during
switching process
►
adjustment of transformer ratios for control purposes is not
required on standard models.
(On
BLR-CX-xx-M or -L-M input of the CT & PT ratios are required for
indication of values measured).
►
adjustment of target cos phi in the range of 0.70 (lag) to 1.0 to
0.90 (lead)
►
adjustable switching time from 5 to 1200 seconds
►
manual switching may be selected whenever required
►
no-volt release with power interruption greater than 35 ms.
►
90 second lockout time following power failure and subsequent power
restoration.
► optical (LED) indication of each individual stage
►
display of measured power factor
►
failure alarm if target cos j is not achieved (after completion of
75 switching cycles)
►
instrument may be connected in either a three phase system or a
single phase
► available in 4, 6, 8 or 12 step models
►
asymmetrical switching time delays are user programmable
►
automatic alarm indication of failed steps
► automatic and “1111”
(first
in, last out - last in, first out)
switching programs are user selectable

The
upper photograph shows the front of BLR-CX or BLR-CX-L. In addition
to the standard features listed above, the “L” option provides a
rear mounted temperature sensor and internal measuring circuits +
output relay that may be used to control a fan when a preset
temperature has been sensed. The preset temperature set points are
30° C, 35° C, 40° C & 45° C. Fan control option “L” is a
simple and inexpensive way to monitor and control the cabinet
temperature allowing any heated capacitors to cool down to their
correct operating levels. The “L” option also includes a second
power factor target that is typically used for night tariff
operation.
